This is the account of Jeremiah's birth from his mama's point of view:
I have decided it is cruelty to know ahead of time what's going to take place when. But keep in mind last time I was at this hospital it was the stupidest experience ever and all the emotions of this day were piled with all the things of last year.
- I drink my last sip of water for the next 18 hours at midnight & try to clear my head enough to relax and rest.
- I enjoy my last few hours of being able to hold Zeke before my hubby & mom drive me to the hospital & I turn myself in @ 10 am.
- That's when the fun began. They show me to the room I am to be "enjoying" with my new son for the next 3 nights: the Hilton it is not. They were flooded with babies on this particular day and so I got the "converted" room shared with another mom that spoke no english. It actually turned out to be nice, but first impressions weren't good.
- On with the shaving of the area: & the lady doing the act couldn't figure out the razor.
- It took 3 ladies & 6 painful diggings to start an IV. By the 3rd lady & the 6th dig, I was thinking I was hearing from the Lord and seeing the signs all around me. If she wasn't going to accomplish the task this time, I'm grabbing my clothes and saying "hasta lavista, baby". But she got it, so I stayed.
- It took the 2 1/2 hours to accomplish this. And here I thought I'd be bored.
- On they wheeled me to the surgery room. As they prepped and cleaned & gave me the spinal shot thingy, Char was getting himself handsomely dressed in the gear required to accompany me in the room.
- And within seconds of Char joining me, these big frisbee shaped lights turned on above me and [unbeknownst to the docs] I could see my reflection perfectly... giving me a clear view of my belly being cut open, things moved around, & the pulling out & birth of Jeremiah. It was the coolest thing ever- all within 9 minutes.
- By 3:30, we were all together in our quaint little room wishing we had a camera. Ours had decided it had had enough within 10 minutes of us entering the hospital... thank God for cell phones!
- We were sent home yesterday... a whole day earlier than told we would be:)
