Creative Camping

Remember how at the beginning of the year we resolved to go camping once a month (along with going on a date on at least the 10th of every month)? Well, it's been great! April we invited our small group with us & it was fun until the wind blew us home :(  This month, though, was proving difficult to arrange. No weekend seemed feasible to leave town.

C came up with a brilliant idea this morning: why don't we set up camp in the backyard? Huh. I love it! I just didn't realize he meant tonight... until he came home at 5 & started setting up :)

I don't remember what funny word they were yelling but it made for cute/interesting faces :)

And then they got to work:

Thankfully, I had hotdogs in the fridge (you just never know when you'll need them!)
And just how do we eat them without bread in the house, you might ask? Well, wrapped in lettuce, of course! We even diced tomatoes & cucumbers & drizzled them in orange peel olive oil & vinegar for extra effect :)  They were so delicious & healthy feeling, I may never go back to buns again :)

So here I thought I was going to have a 'normal' night tonight, but instead I'm enjoying some quiet & catching up on fun projects such as making a batch of Kumbucha, Kefir, & some grain free granola for breakfast in the morning :)

I'm not saying we should do this every month... but I am saying it was an excellent way to meet the needs; it was cheap, easy, & the boys loved the new adventure :)

**update**
Aaack! Z came in @ 6:30 looking for breakfast... a real drawback from regular camping... good thing I had made the granola :)
