Last week Zeke had his first roasted marshmallow. We were bbq'ing cheeseburgers and the briquets were the perfect temperature for an indulgment. Zeke and I waited patiently while the little white marshmallow was put to heat and watched as it puffed up and turned a nice golden brown. Mmmmm. Zeke was instantly hooked.
This week, I'm feeling like I'm the marshmallow. In all my 5 years here in Cali, I don't remember it ever getting this hot- especially in June. Usually we get "June gloom" and I freeze the entire month. But for some odd reason, we're cooking. Yesterday I got up at 7 and the house was already feeling warm...by the end of the day, I was thinking about where I could go to escape the heat. Our usual cool breeze (we must have it 364 days of the year) was no where to be found.
Today our usual 60 degree weather has been replaced by 99 degrees. I'm reading the salt content on every package in the house to prevent my fingers & toes from plumping up like the marshmallow did. I guess I'll stick with ice cream.
Unfortunately, I can guarantee I won't be turning a nice golden brown- I'm a white chick that stays white until I turn red and then I 'gracefully' turn back to white again:)

This heat has caused my fingers and toes to swell too :( Suppose to be hotter in the morning...yikes!
